Get the BEST out of your new gear!
The Sports Aviation Federation of Australia (SAFA) administers Hang Gliding and Paragliding in Australia under CASA (our national governing body for aircraft safety and licensing) regulations.
It is a legal requirement to be a current registered member of SAFA and hold the appropriate certificates and endorsements to fly paragliders (including parakites) within Australia.
Currently SAFA designates all parakites as requiring a mini/speed wing endorsement before a pilot can fly one. This is regardless of wing loading.
To apply for a mini/speed wing endorsement, the applicant must meet requirements, which includes holding a PG4 Pilot Certificate. However, pilots who hold a PG3 Pilot Certificate and hold or have held a “C” Certificate with the Australian Parachute Federation with a minimum 100 logged jumps may also apply for a mini/speed wing endorsement once they have meet the requirements.
Of course we can get you ground handling parakites beforehand.
While adapting to the FLARE parakite riser system is relatively easy, changing habits to keep you safe is important, and exploiting the benefits to the max takes time. We're here to keep you safe and help you shortcut the progression.
If you aren't yet mini/speed wing endorsed, our instructor can assist you in obtaining the required pilot certificates and endorsements - so long as you have meet the requirements to do so (we can guide you if you're not sure). We can get you flying a Moustache as part of your endorsement.
Julian is dedicated to seeing others progress safely and provides comprehensive 1:1 induction to FLARE products as well as mentoring free of charge. You're welcome to bring your own wing or use one of ours. Advice, tips, feedback, and video analysis are also gratis. There is an incredible community of FLARE pilots who are only too willing to assist - so there is a good chance we can find a buddy somewhere near your home when you return.
Take advantage - exploit the energy and other benefits of these amazing products, progress your contour surfing, proximity flying, foot drags, spot landings, fun factor, and explore the new world in a safe and incremental manner with others.
Flying a MOUSTACHE or a LINE is so much fun, so we do understand that it's tempting to just grab it and give it a try.
But while "flaring" – as we call it – looks like usual paragliding, it really isn't. Habits which keep you safe while paragliding, can get you in trouble.
Trust us, the time spent to watch all of the tutorials below will pay off a thousand times - they are only a few minutes each.
Please note that no online video can replace a proper in-person training/mentoring.
